Julianne Moore stars as bookish spinster Linda Sinclair, a high school teacher and hopeless literary romantic who is more interested in finding passion in the written word than in her small town’s lackluster dating scene. Linda is shaken from her routine when her former student Jason (Michael Angarano) returns home after failing to make it big as a playwright in New York City, and is heading toward a path to law school at the bidding of his overbearing father (Greg Kinnear). Sensing the perfect opportunity to inspire her students, Linda decides to mount one of Jason’s plays with the help of the high school drama department (led by Nathan Lane as the flamboyant drama teacher). First-time filmmaker Craig Zisk delivers a warm, whimsical and sweet comedy full of humor and heart.
