Intensive research and a major bombshell set the record straight in this powerfully compelling investigation into the events surrounding the 2014 shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. TCFF alumni Jason Pollock (The Youngest Candidate, TCFF 2008) explores the shooting of an unarmed Michael Brown, who was killed by 12 gunshots at the hands of white police officer Darren Wilson, just eight days after Brown's high school graduation. Wilson claimed he feared for his life, and was eventually cleared of any legal wrongdoing. Protests erupted in cities across America, and "Black Lives Matter” became the rallying cry as the movement spread across the world. Pollock unveils institutionalized racism—“Blood on the leaves and blood at the roots”—and empowers audiences to search for truth and compassion while watching Brown’s mother grieve her child with the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Tamir Rice by her side.
