Remember the rip-roaring aughts when America was obsessed with all things NASCAR? When yokels slathered in corporate logos captured our hearts and imaginations? No? Well, it really did happen, and praise Lord Baby Jesus, Will Ferrell was there to capture it with this brilliant chicken-fried comedy about NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby (Ferrell) and his best friend (John C. Reilly) as they take on a despised Formula 1 racer (Sacha Baron Cohen). Can Ricky Bobby reclaim his manhood (by, you know, driving a car fast) and humiliate the Frenchman at the famed Talladega 500? While it may not have won the Academy Award for “Best Movie Ever Made” like “Highlander” did, this sports satire is a work of inspired absurdity so hilarious, you just might blow a gasket.
