Description

Michigan State University’s talented student filmmakers return to TCFF with five outstanding short films. In Preston Ioan Swarthout’s “Amorphous,” an unconventional hypnotist ventures into a motel room to help a disturbed young woman and her older brother, but he gets more than he bargained for. “Immiscible: The Fight Over Line 5” by Olivia Dimmer takes a look at the 64-year-old Line 5 oil pipeline, which runs under the Straits of Mackinac. Following her boyfriend’s attempted suicide, a young woman is forced to reevaluate their relationship and her own life in Stuart Heinlein’s “On the Way Up.” Experiment with a visual experience in this tonal piece inspired by a Nicole Bush poem in “Creativity: A Gut Reaction.” And Amy Wagenaar’s “The World is Beautiful" sparks intrigue: in a country, on a map, lies a town of shadows at the edge of a dark road, and at the end, there is a boy named Charlie. In Person: Michigan State University Student Filmmakers.
