Description

Real life rap artist Tamer Nafar stars as Kareem, a young Palestinian musician from Lod, a poor, crime-ridden town a few kilometres east of Tel Aviv where Arabs and Jews live side by side. His problems are out of scale with most American teenagers. A car accident kills his father and critically injures his mother. The government is threatening to tear down the home of their band manager Talal to erect a Museum of Reconciliation. Kareem and his girlfriend Manar (Samar Qupty) find joy performing together, but at a concert where they hope to raise money for Talal, their lyrics incite an attack from Jewish rappers. Kareem and Manar decide to use their songs to fight against the oppression of Israeli society as well as the violence that exists within their own conservative patriarchal community. With an attractive young cast, a bright color palette, and witty rapid-fire raps, director Udi Aloni has created a sharp commentary on the Israeli-Palestinian situation through the story of talented, courageous young people who struggle to be creative in a difficult world.
