Laugh with delight at the over-the-top action as the cast, including heartthrob Casper Van Dien, a charismatic Neil Patrick Harris, and 90s babe Denise Richards, joyfully use every possible weapon to blow apart giant armies of flame-spraying beetles. This gem was originally panned by critics and audiences alike, but, like many films from our most mischievous auteur, Paul Verhoeven, it has since been recognized as a work of underappreciated genius, a miracle of pop cinema with its nimble melding of anti-fascist social commentary and endless amounts of slime.
