Perfectly timed for our post-“Serial” age,
“Women Who Kill” follows podcast co-hosts
and ex-lovers Morgan and Jean, who work
together on a true-crime series interviewing
female murderers. Enter Morgan’s new
love interest, the mysterious Simone, who
fuels Morgan’s paranoia about the possible
horrors that lie beneath the surface
of their seemingly normal Park Slope neighborhood.
Is she prone to imagining things,
or are the threats real? As Morgan is pulled
deeper into a paranoid psychological state,
she makes the dubious decision to seek advice
from Lila, a jailed serial killer played with
seething ferocity by Annette O’Toole. Known
for her popular web series “The Slope” and
“F to the 7th,” Ingrid Jungerman has made a
smart and savvy move into film. This electric
directorial debut was dubbed by IndieWire as
“the best lesbian comedy-horror ever.”
