Description

The most beautiful love story in the festival this year is also a smart blockbuster comedy from Sweden—oh happy day! Ove is a grumpy widower who patrols his block every morning like clockwork, locking up stray bikes and telling his neighbors exactly what he thinks of them. Thankfully, his tight-knit community knows that his cantankerous veneer hides the grief and despair he feels over the death of his beloved wife. The film moves between a series of comedic failed attempts by Ove to off himself so that he can join his wife (turns out he’s really bad at suicide), and flashbacks to his earlier life when he met, wooed, and married his soul mate. Fortunately for everyone, the arrival of new neighbors gives Ove an unexpected reason to keep going—and challenges him to rediscover in himself the man his wife loved. In Person: Director Hannes Holm (Thu, Fri) .
