Go green, go white, go see this riveting true
story of courage, race, and one unforgettable
football game. Michigan State University
Coach Duffy Daugherty upended college
football by standing against the hatred and
discrimination of the 1960s and recruiting
black players. The fully integrated 1964
Spartan team stormed the nation as two-time
undefeated National Champions. Their historic
run culminated with the 1966 “Game of
the Century,” an epic clash of ideologies between
the integrated MSU and lily-white Notre
Dame squads that reverberated in sports
and politics for decades to come. Director
Bob Apisa, a former All-American Spartan,
employs his own on-the-field recollections
and unseen footage from Daugherty’s personal
vault to bring this electric era to life.
You won’t need to be a Spartan to swell with
pride during this startlingly resonant telling
of a great chapter in sports history, making
its world premiere in Traverse City. In Person:
