Filmmakers Nora Mandray and Jason B. Kohl spend a year at Michigan’s Macomb Correctional Facility following three inmates as they train the rambunctious Eli 24/7 to become a guide dog. Since animals make us better humans, the men’s pride and love of the puppy forges an unlikely friendship. As they chart their own uncertain path to rehabilitation in the broken American prison system, they hope that this project is one way they can contribute to a community that their crimes harmed.
