The lighter of this year’s two narrative shorts programs, these six touching and humorous shorts are among the best we’ve ever shown at the festival. Young Emma’s decision to leave grandmother in charge of her favorite iPad game has dire consequences for her digital stable in “Pony Place;” in “Person to Person,” a Brooklyn man has to deal with a stranger who refuses to leave his apartment the morning after hosting a party; and a twenty-something punk meets his match in a confident, bratty twelve-year-old girl in “Kakara.”
