Description

It’s 1988 in Chile, and after 15 years of dictatorship, Augusto Pinochet knows he has to allow a vote or face revolt. He decides to allow the people to vote Yes or No on a referendum to keep himself in power, assuming that it would be a meaningless election. But the opposition party seizes the rare opportunity and decides to run a 15-minute anti-Pinochet ad on public TV. Led by a commercial-savvy adman (Gael García Bernal), they devise an unorthodox campaign to sell the Chilean people on freedom and democracy. This smart and sly look at the marriage of politics and advertising was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards.
