In the aftermath of the Watergate scandal, the FBI seized a cache of over five hundred reels of Super-8 home movies of Nixon’s years as President filmed by his top aides. Contained within the films were many historical events: the administration’s first trip to China, the moon landing, the RNC, and more; but they also captured a candid record of daily life in the Oval Office. In this mesmerizing all-archival documentary, filmmaker Penny Lane combines these home movies with the audio from the White House tapes and other rare footage from the time to create an intimate portrait of the Nixon presidency and add a new dimension to America’s most scandalized President.
