Stockholm, My Love
2016 | Sweden, UK | NR | 88 min.
TCFF board member and filmmaker Mark Cousins (“I Am Belfast,” TCFF 2016) is known for being profoundly unconventional, and his new film will keep his reputation safe. “Stockholm, My Love” follows Ava (singer Neneh Cherry in her stunning film debut) through Swedish city streets as she sorts through a past trauma and present anxieties on a pivotal anniversary. Her inner pain and turmoil are portrayed through stunning visuals and poetic editing that oscillates between the jarring and the seamless. The film clearly conveys tone without need of dialogue, bringing its beautiful images to life with great potency. Another triumph from a great filmmaker, “Stockholm, My Love” is a captivating chronicle of one woman’s inner life and its relationship to the landscape that surrounds her.
