Description

Real-life couple Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet (who wrote and directed the film) play themselves in this loopy, zany, tongue-in-cheek satirical French comedy about aging in the limelight. They seem to have a perfect life: the renowned actors are beautiful, successful, and in love, have a delightful son and a great place to live. But no matter how perfect things look from the outside, everybody has their own anxieties, even movie stars. After a younger co-star tells Canet that he’s not cool anymore, he descends into a deep mid-life crisis, and the bottom quickly drops out. Dissecting masculinity, romance, success, and aging, using a veritable who’s who cast of French actors (most playing themselves), including Gilles Lellouche, Philippe Lefebvre, Camille Rowe, Yvan Attal, and the French Elvis, Johnny Hallyday, this side-splitting send-up of the film industry delivers some pointed social commentary as it makes you laugh.
