Description
In 1992, the body of a transgender woman was found floating in New York City’s Hudson River. The NYPD ruled the death of trans activist and local gay icon Marsha P. Johnson a suicide, but decades later, Johnson’s supporters still maintain that the authorities were wrong. Oscar nominee David France movingly depicts the ongoing fight for justice in Johnson’s case, shining the spotlight on activist Victoria Cruz, who tenaciously keeps the cause alive after all these years. Part tribute to Johnson and other trans activists who have been lost under tragic circumstances, and part amateur investigation of past crimes against the LGBT community, this captivating story serves as a salute to the community’s resilience and a memorial for those gone too soon.
