TCFF regular John Gianvito (“Vapor Trail (Clark),” TCFF ‘11 and “Profit Motive and the Whispering Wind,” TCFF ‘08) returns with his latest documentary, a collaborative work with four other filmmakers that offers a big-picture look at the decade-long US war in Afghanistan. Inspired by the landmark 1967 film “Far From Vietnam,” this anthology analyzes how the ongoing war has affected both sides through a mosaic of poetic and experimental approaches, interweaving material from the five American directors with on-the-ground footage shot by Afghani filmmakers to present both a reflexive examination on the nature of war imagery and a forum to generate dialog about how US foreign policy affects people around the globe.
